The Walking Dead Themed Recipes: Infected Brain Cupcakes

Ingredients
2 eggs -or- two 1/4 cups of vanilla yogurt
4.4oz butter, softened
1-cup sugar
½ cup vanilla soymilk
2 cups flour
1-tablespoon vanilla extract
Food coloring dye (Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow)
Directions
Preheat oven to 320 degrees. Line a 12-cupcake pan with cupcake papers (I used red cupcake paper). In a medium sized bowl, lightly beat the eggs,/yogurt, add butter and sugar, then mix until light and fluffy.
Add milk, flour, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes, until light and creamy.
Divide the mixture evenly between the cake papers. Bake for 18-20 minutes until risen and firm to touch. Allow cooling for a few minutes and then transferring to a wire rack. Allow to cool fully before decorating (I wait overnight).
Decorating
Make the homemade vanilla frosting.
Evenly separate the mixture into two bowls. In one of the bowl, add red dye (amount according to the package) and mix until blended.
Using a frosting tool or piping bag, add a spoonful of red dyed frosting, then a spoonful of the white. Repeat this until the tool or bag is filled. Use a round tip about ¼-inch wide: a Wilton #10 tip
Pipe a thin layer of buttercream on top of the cupcakes, and smooth it out with a knife. It does not need to be perfect because it is just going to be the base of the brains.
Pipe a line down the middle of the cupcake, then fill up the space to the right with one long buttercream squiggle, beginning at the top, widening through the middle, and narrowing at the bottom. Repeat on the left side, until you have formed both halves of the “brain.” Repeat until all of the cupcakes are decorated with brains. (You can use this pinned picture tutorial as reference of what to do)
Take the red food coloring dye, holding high above the cupcake, splatter the dye SLOWLY, only one drop at a time on different cupcakes. Repeat this with the other colors.
Allow the dye to dry before serving.
