Growing up in the 90s and early 2000s with a dairy allergy, there weren't many alternative products or brands available in stores. The products we did buy would include soy, such as Silk's soy milk and the Tofutti Brand's ice cream, cheese, and cream cheese. Developing a soy allergy, on top of my other food allergies, meant having to learn how to make a lot of dairy-free recipes without any soy (or even coconut) ingredients.
