If you follow us on Instagram, you might have seen some teases about all the new and exciting things we have going on. If not, then you have been missing out and should definitely follow us: @amandamacgregor_com! 😆Our biggest and most exciting announcement is that WE BOTH GOT NEW JOBS!
As mentioned in our Year In Review for 2022 blog post, Joe and I set goals for ourselves to meet this year; individual goals, and goals we can accomplish together. After the emotionally draining and physically enduring year that was 2022, we wanted to pave a more positive and mentally healthy new year for us. This included getting back into hobbies we love doing, moving forward with home improvement plans we have pending, and dabbling with the idea of FINALLY booking and going on our honeymoon (3 years after our wedding).
However, our biggest and what we thought would be our most challenging goal was exploring job opportunities available in our individual fields. The last thing we thought would happen would be that we would both land something new within weeks apart!
It has been a whirlwind of changes, but we are pleased to say we are adjusting quite well to our new roles and our new routine. I spent the first week of my new job in Chicago, which gave a lot of our family and friends the fright that we had moved when I posted about my trip.
Rest assured, we are still here in New Jersey, in our same little humble abode. We promise, there will be no "we're moving" blog on the horizon, but we will indeed have some fun house projects to share over on the Our Home tab! So stayed tuned!
Along with this new routine has also come a lineup of new recipes we have been making. Getting back into proper meal prep planning was one of our goals for this year. I have been looking forward to baking muffins, getting back into making overnight oats (and updating that recipe that so desperately needs it), and tackling a long list of tasty recipes to make for weeknight dinners. Watch out as we share them with you here on the blog and on our social pages.
One last bit of exciting news is my cousin is getting married and she asked Ashley and me to be her Maid Of Honors! It is a bittersweet moment to get the last of our trio all prepped and ready for her wedding day, but I am also excited to get Melissa down the aisle as we did for my wedding and then again for Ashley's wedding.
Checking off tasks on her to-do list and her coming to us for advice all have gotten me back into the spirit of writing for the wedding blog series I started before our wedding and still haven't finished...whoops. I'll just continue to tell myself this is not procrastination at its finest, but that as long as we haven't gone on our honeymoon, the series is not past due (LOL).
Regardless, there is a lot to celebrate and we are only 5 months into the year. In the words of Lennon–McCartney,
"Take a sad song and make it better".
We'd like to think that is what we did. We were both in such a hard place last year. Don't get me wrong, it took a lot of working through to get where we are today. I wish it all was as easy peasy as this blog may have it come off to be. The reality is that it was work; it was stressful and hard work, but work we see as being well worth it in the long run. And to that, we'll cheers to the continued road ahead, keeping our heads up high, improving, growing, learning, and doing what we love doing.
