Build A Perfect Allergy-Friendly Pizza Pie
Updated: Nov 13

Let's dive into homemade pizza!
Actually, it would be a fantastic to dive into a pie of pizza right now.. I miss the days of being able to call a pizzeria and order a pie whenever we would want it, but life with multiple food allergies do not make these tasks that easy. The plus side is we have experimented and made so many pizza combinations at our house, that we now have a list worthy of a blog. So here we go...
Whether you're dealing with food allergy restrictions or just looking for a fresh twist for your next homemade pizza night, this guide will help you build the perfect allergy-friendly pizza that is free from dairy, gluten, corn, nightshades, coconut, and more!
Follow our 3-steps to building out your perfect food allergy-friendly pizza with us:
Following the breakdown, we have a list of some very tasty pizzas we have made and what were used to create them. Everything from classic to pesto, all the way to butternutsquash.
Please note that our list is limited. While there are plenty of other products out there that may be safe for you, depending on your own allergy restrictions, this list is completely free from gluten, soy, corn, dairy, nightshades, coconut, canola, and mustard.
**Anything I missed? I will continue to update this page periodically. 🙂🍕
Now, let's build your perfect food allergy-friendly pizza!
Step One:
Select your crust of choice:
We used to use a frozen cauliflower pizza crust we would find in Whole Foods. Unfortunately, that company is no longer around and we cannot find another cauliflower-based crust that is free from all my 12+ allergies. If you have a brand you trust, feel free to use that crust instead of these options.

Step Two:
Select your sauce of choice!
Pesto (we love Gotham Greens Vegan Pesto - does contain pine nuts)

Step Three:
And quite frankly my favorite part...cheese and toppings! Options are not limited to; feel free to use whatever you feel bit. These are just some of our favorites to use for pizza:
Cheese
Toppings
Fresh basil leaves
Italian seasoning
Saute onions or sliced red onions
Roasted butternut squash
Saute spinach or leafy greens of choice
Grill chicken (perfect for a chicken bacon ranch pizza😉)
As promised, below is a round-up of some of our favorite pizza creations we have made!

Classic Pizza Pie
This is our classic pizza using our tomatoless marinara sauce and homemade cashew cheese (recipe below), sprinkled with dried Italian seasoning.
Cashew Cheese
Ingredients
⅓ cup cashews
1 to 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 garlic clove
1 cup water
sea salt, for taste
2 tablespoons arrowroot starch (or starch of your choosing)
Directions
Put all the ingredients except for the starch in a blender or food processor. Pulse repeatedly to break the cashews down, until they form a coarse, wet meal. Scrape the sides of the blender or food processor down with a rubber spatula.
Transfer into a small sauce pot over medium heat. Add in the starch and stir until the mixture thickens.
Pesto and Prosciutto Pizza Pie using Simple Mills Pizza Crust Mix
Sauce: Pesto
Toppings: Cashew Ricotta, Prosciutto, basil leaves, and Italian seasoning

Roasted Butternut Squash Pizza Pie
Sauce: Dairy-Free Alfredo Sauce or white sauce of choice
Toppings: Diced butternut squash and sliced red onions that were roasted in the oven before being added to the pizza. Finished off with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast.
Pizza Bagels
Bagels: We use bagels by The Greater Knead. The following flavors would be perfect as pizza bagels:
Tomato Basil (only use if you are not nightshade-free)

Prosciutto Pizza Pie
Sauce: Pesto or sauce of your choosing
Toppings: Sauteed spinach and onions, roasted garlic, Applegate prosciutto, and drizzle with balsamic glaze. I also occasionally add PEARLS Olives
